A very stylish antique gilt metal comb set with coral beads. The gilt metal curve piece has rope work and is set between with coral half beads. It is 12cm on the curve end to end, the comb is 5.5cm x7cm . I\'m not sure if the orange coral are paste beads or real [ close up they have slight faults so could be real] The gilt metal has no makers marks but I think is base metal, gold plated with a slight granular surface to the front whereas the back is smooth gilt metal.I have photographed it in natural light, exept for the last pic which had strong flash.It is attached to a hinged comb that I think is a honey colured early plastic designed to look like tortoiseshell, this has a small open hook underneath that could be for a veil or mantilla. I feel this dates from the 1920/30\'s from its style and strong construction.
The condition is very good with no damage to the front , the hinge does have some wear but this is slight, more from being opened. Its a great and unsual piece with an almost Byzantine Deco feel.
