Fine antique autograph album titled, \"Flowers In Frolic\", published by John C. Riker, 129 Fulton Street, New York, [no date, but sometime between 1844 and 1855], 60 pp. Full black leather hardcover with gold gilt edges, lettering, and profuse design to the spine. No tears and exceptionally clean and bright. Complete with no pages or tissue guards missing. Any age spots are almost all confined to the tissues themselves. Measures 6 1/4\" x 7 3/4\" with six beautiful full page hand colored lithographs by Fanny Flora Bond Palmer of 15 Ann Street, New York. This cherished book once belonged to Rhoda Ann Wright of Stratford, which lies on the banks of the Connecticut River in Coos County, New Hampshire. The presentation entry to Rhoda fom her sister is dated July 21, 1861 which just happens to be the same day as the Battle of Bull Run starting the Civil War. About half of the twenty-four pages with entries are from 1861 and 1862 [many of these are page length]; the remaining are from the 1870\'s and 1880\'s and tend to be more brief. It appears that Rhoda\'s mother later remarried and changed her name to Ockington. Some of the later entries bear this surname; one being from a brother in Irwinton, Georgia. Other friends and family who contributed were from Lancaster, Stoddard, Acworth, and Stratford Hollows, New Hampshire. Surnames of these include Richarson, Dodge, Peck, Lyman, Sanders, Langford, Russell, and Day. This wonderful book has some rubbing to the corners and both ends of the spine as shown. However, the binding remains strong with no loose pages. Overall, a very attractive and solid copy of what appears to be a rather rare autograph album in very good plus condition. Nice.
