Antique Heubach 10\" Bisque and Wood 5 peice Jointed Doll - Original Clothes:
$67.00

This doll was made by the Heubach family that bought an established porcelain factory around 1843 in Lichte, Thuringia, Germany. About 1910 they began making bisque character socket or shoulder head dolls, either molded hair or wigged, sleep eyes or their famous painted intaglio eyes. One secret to Heubach\'s success was the location of an Art School for artists and sculptors located near their factory, some of the artists names are: Holwein, Krieger, Niemeyer, Wera vonBartels, Zeiller and Zitzmann. - whose initials maybe included in the doll marking.
I can\'t tell what character this doll is dressed as but her dress and hat reminds me of a Bavarian girl. There is much detail to both the dress and hat and of course, since they are so old, some of the material has split. Features of the 10\" doll are wooden, five piece body, painted intaglio brown eyes, socket head, real blonde hair, 3 upper teeth, rosy cheeks and painted on socks and shoes. She is very loose and will need to be restrung. Her left foot appears to have been glued together or is split and may need to be glued. It\'s hard to tell. She is marked Heubach on the back of her head - there is another name after that but I cannot read it. The numbers 250 13/0 and Germany are under the name.
