Antique Hopi ceremonial dance sash. Late 19th – early 20th century. Deaccessioned from a well known museum and donated by well known collectors. Buyer will be given provenance. Cotton base with wool brocading. Two separate ends, which is typical, that are joined by wool yarn. Has supplemental red twill weave ribbon on one end only. It probably had one on the other end also.In good condition with face fading, stains, minor red dye blushing and red twill ribbon is somewhat loose and has some fading (See photographs.).
