Antique Japanese, 19th century Meiji lacquer box. Kidney shaped, exquisite, rare:

This is an exceptionally pretty 19th century Japanese trinket box in a kidney shape. It is lidded and the lid and sides are decorated with a red and gilt scene of a pagoda in a landscape to the lid and flowers to the sides. The lid is slightly domed and the lacquered wood is extremely thin and fine.It measures 7.4 cm in length, 5 cm in width and 3 cm in depth. The condition is really good when the age and fragility are considered. There is slight wear to the painted areas and there are a couple of fine cracks to the rim of the lid as I have shown in the photographs- these are stable. This is a pretty piece and the shape is unusual. I shall answer any questions as quickly as possible. Thanks for looking.
