Antique Japanese Samurai Sword,Shorter Type, WAKIZASHI, Old Blade & Iron TSUBA, Mid 1800’s era, MissingHandle, Very Good Condition. OriginalJapanese Samurai WAKIZASHI (Short Sword), With Original Wooden Scabbard withheavy black lacquer coating. TheWAKIZASHI has a nice hand forged sword blade with one (1) MEKUGI-ANA (Hole inthe Tang for the small bamboo pin that secures the Handle to the Blade). The TSUBA is simple in design and is made ofIron. The TSUBA has one (1) slot for aKOZUKA (small Knife carried with the Sword), and the Scabbard has a slot cutinto the side near the top to accommodate the KOZUKA. The WAKIZASHI has the KUCHI-GANE (Throat)which is highlighted with GOLD. TheHABAKI (Sleeve) has decorations of vertical lines cut into it. There are also two (2) SEPPA’S (Washers)between the HABAKI and the KUCHI-GANE.The Tang of the WAKIZASHI looks to be un-signed and has some file marks. The entire Blade measures about 20 ½” inchesfrom the tip of the Blade to the end of the Tang. The Cutting edge of the Blade measures about16 ¼” inches in length. The Blade is notbent and has no damage and shows great age and has no pitting.The Scabbard measures about 16 ¾” inches in length, has no cracks andshows nice honest age.

The Iron TSUBA measures about 2 5/8\" inches in diameter.
