Date and type of wood: UnknownAccessory: iron metal?Hand carvedThe chest has a functional lock and key.I bought this chest at an antique store in Jeju Island,South Korean in 1980 when I visited there as a tourist. I had to buy it to leave the store as I was so captivated by the beauty of the chest. At that time, I had no intention of selling it to other individual, so I did not get all the details of it. This can be so very old and its value very great. I have no way of taking it to an appraiser, as it is very heavy and I cannot lift it up to weigh on the scale. If you are an expert antique dealer, you will know the value. I am on a summer vacation for the next 7 days. If you happened to be near my location, you are welcome to come by and take a look at it. It may also fit into a SUV vehicle for you to take it with you. Thanks.
Please also note that the surface of the chest is not even as it is hand carved. There is also a crack or two on the top. The chest was revarnished in 1982 or so. It was one of the remnant of my possessions from a fire. The chest was not damaged in the fire, though. Please e-mail me for more details on the item.
