Gorgeous Old LOG CABIN Quilt( 89\" by 76\" )
Offered for consideration is this stunning antique treasure.The age is difficult to determine, but judging by the fabrics,I believe it is certainly before 1920,and probably quite a bit older (Civil War era?).The quilt is stitched together by hand and most of the fabric is in relatively good shape.The backing is excellent & the quilt feels sturdy.Probably wool and cotton ~ the orange color is especially striking.The \"blocks\" are about 12\" square.
You will see in the photos that some squares have small moth holesand certain like-pieces have partially deteriorated (not too many).There is a stain near the edge that looks very old.I was afraid to wash the quiltso I am offering it \"as found\".The last 2 photos show the stain.
This quilt came from an estate sale ~ a grand 19th century brick farmhouse with a widow\'s walk.The family had been therefor multiple generations, since the early/mid 1800s.
I am not an expert in quilts, but I know a good design when I see one.Please ask questions should you need more information.
