This is a rarechance to buy a large job lot of antique(late 19th early 20th century)

wooden lace-maker\'s bobbins, There are 185 in total which I have photographed in

groups of 20 (X9) and five separately.

The bobbins are largely made of olive wood and a smaller quantity appear to be

made of a lighter wood which I think is a fruitwood such as pear or apple.

I purchased these during a recent trip to Malta and the person I bought them from told

me they were the property of one family who had been lace-makers for many

yearsbased in a town called Rabat (Victoria) on the island of Gozo.

Condition is generally very good given that these are wooden and could be 150 years old

there is no woodworm or rot - I note that several of the bobbins have some losses - see

pictures for detail. Fantastic genuine antique lace bobbins to add to a collection or for

craft use. Please note I have left these items as found and have resisted the urge to

polish, clean, wax or otherwise \"improve\" these.
