Found at an estate sale: here is a unusually large and heavy jewelry casket or trinket box byBRAINARD & WILSON, 1902-1915. B&W mark to the underside. This special piece is coveredwith molded dimensional design in ornate patterns featuring cartouches on all sides and the lid. Every oval cartouche depicts a different romantic scene of a courting couple. The scenes are surrounded by every sort of vines, flowers, flourishes, and other embellishments. The box sits on four ball feet. The lid opens to reveal an interior lined in deep green velvety fabric,slightly aged. This heavy box or casket isgilded metal and weighs close to 5 lbs. The lid is very heavy, and so two of the three hinges have broken loose and will need to be re-fastened. The upper leftcorner of the lid has a 1\" crack. Even so, this box is simply fabulous.
