Well this is a beautiful antique pendant! I wish I knew more about it for you. It is stamped 925 on the back. As for the red gem I was told it was a Ruby but it looks more like a spinel and I\'m going to say a faux one at that. Doesn\'t matter though the silversmithing is beautiful on this pendant. I love the shape like a stained glass window in a gothic cathedral! The detail of the Madonna is nicely done and I like all the Engraved detail. Well some useage wear and then the bale is dented. It still can be worn on a chain though and if you really wanted to I think a jeweler could fix the bale. It does need a good clean and polish. On my jewelry scale it weighs 9.6 grams and then it measures appr 2 1/4\" from the bottom to the top of the bale and then a little over 1 1/4\" side to side. The bale opening measures appr 7MM.
