Antique Late 19th Century Ornate Lemon Gold Gilt Frame 14 x 16 Opening:

This is an antique late 19th century ornate lemon gold gilded frame.

I would estimate it dates circa 1880s or 1890s.

Overall it measures 19 1/2 inches x 21 1/2 inches (49.5 cm x 54.6 cm). The back opening size measures 14 1/8 inches x 16 1/8 inches (35.9 cm x 41 cm). The molding width measures 3 inches (7.6 cm).

The frame is made of wood with applied decorative composition.

It has some damage to it. In the top left section, there is a chip to the decorative composition and loss to the gold finish and gesso, along with dark stains. I believe this was caused by water damage at some point. There is a chip on the bottom short piece of molding measuring approximately 1 1/4 inches (3.2 cm). There is a small chip in each of the outer corners, but a larger one in the bottom right corner. On the left side piece of long molding, on the middle strip of decorative composition, it looks like there is a small glitch where they applied the composition. I don\'t know if this was a tiny repair, or was original. There is some other minor expected wear to the frame.

It has its original old bubbled and wavy glass.

It would be great for an old oil painting, drawing, folk art work, sampler, fraktur, silhouette, etc.

It weighs 6 lbs. 4 oz. (2.834 kg).

It has what I always look for in frames, that wonderful old world look!
