I have not polished it as some people prefer their brass with a patina, but, it would polish up very brightly if so desired. It dates to 1880 -1910.

This is a highly decorative and ornamental item. It could also be displayed with a plant in it. It comes complete with its carved and painted resident wooden parrot! ( Not a Norwegian Blue!!) He has lived very happily in there with our family for over 30 years. ( A house move has forced us to part company.)

It is of a brass wire and tube construction with a central hanging point with a turned wooden ferrule handle. There is a brass and wooden swing, a wooden perch and brass water or food bowl. There is a sliding lifting door. The base tray is removeable and is held in place by three ball headed brass screws. The bird cage stands 24 inches overall high and it is 13 1/2 inches in diameter at the base. It weighs 2468g unpacked.
