Antique Lemaire Fab Paris Rare French Oxidized Brass Binoculars. Likely manufactured between 1890-1910. Can be used for a variety of applications, from military to birding to general purpose to classy opera glasses. Made of brass, but the brass has oxidized over time, giving these a lovely and unique green color throughout.By turning the center gear in a clockwise direction, the binoculars extend out even farther. Gear turns in both directions easily and smoothly.Measures approx. 6.5 inches tall x 5 inches wide at their widest point x 2 inches thick at their thickest point. When the lens are fully extended, they measure 8 inches tall.This pair also has the unique feature of engraved initials. When the lens are fully extended, you can see hand-engraved initials on one side of the binoculars (possibly \"U.S.\"?), and the name \"Marine\" on the other with a few stylistic marks beneath. Beautiful handwriting! Adds even more character to this already historical pair.

In good antique condition overall, with some light general wear due to age, such as minor scratches, scuffs, spots, dents, dings, brass oxidization (green color), worn metal areas, tarnishing, etc. No major visible damage that we can see, but we are not experts in binoculars. One of the eye lenses has a dent in the surrounding brass (photographed above), but it does not seem to affect the view. The lenses also have a bit of scratching/discoloration in a few places (also photographed). Could use gentle cleaning to bring out their full potential. We think the light wear only adds to this piece\'s antique appeal, and makes these stand out as a unique piece.
