Here for your consideration is a very early linsey woolsey center-seam blanket, with a rarer embroidered border on the top and bottom. I have owned many linsey-woolsey blankets, but never an embellished one. The embroidery is done so the top \"folds over\" to display the design.
The top and bottom are embroidered with a triple line of tan, blue, and yellow stitching. I believe the stitch is a French knot. The red stitch is the hem border. There is one area where some embroidery thread is missing along the border, and a mend in one area of the border. I have provided pictures of such.
This piece is in very good condition given its age. Still is strong and sturdy. You will find a few small holes, one darn and one mend. I have provided pictures of every \"ding\" I could see. It displays nicely on the bed! There are no odors.
An attached note dates it to 1800 and says \"made in Pennsylvania\". I am not going to try to date it other than saying it is indeed a nineteenth-century textile.
