nice used patination, no damage, never been cleaned, not sure what the metal is but it does look like brass or Could be silver plate but slight yellow tarnish which could reflect the metal or just be nicotine staining
probably 1850/60s from research on google.Item is complete everything works hinge is in working very good on the mouth pease there is a baud aid on it so it can fit tightly in to the pipe and is not broke or cracked i already took the band aid off to check it and it still in pretty good shape
Item does have some teeth marks on the pipes tip as you can see in one of the picture Please note this item is engraved in German
