an antique, 19th century Japanese lacqueralbum with 54 handtinted albumen pictures

made in the Meiji era, circa 1890-1900,in Japan

inside: 54 albumen silver prints - handcolored - picture size: 14 x 9 cm 22 of Geisha\'s and32 of landscapes, harbours, parks, temples andbeaches

the pictuers are faded, but further in good condition, the paper of the pages have some spots/stains

front cover:lacquer on wood, decorated with a landscape with the mount Fuji in the back, housing and trees, in front a by a man pulled rickshaw with a lady sitting in it

back cover: decorated with a blossoming branch

the covers are detached from the accordion style interior, so in need of restoration concerning the binding, but the lacquer is in a good condition, the front cover hasa small crack on the right (just at the horizon right from the trees)

album size: 18,5 x 13,5 cm

some landscape pictures have titles and some are known spots, for example:

Yokohama - bridge andcanal, Yokohama Grand Hotel,

Koganei, Temple Nikko, Statue of Dai Bouts atKamakura, Kamakura beach,

Tonosawa, Mount Fuji, Maikonohama Banshu, Taki-No-Kannon waterfall
