Highest quality Meiji period Satsuma work. Showing the eight wise men, gods on the lid with finely detailed facial features. Interesting raised black and white texturing with raised white dragon with gold teeth and eyes. Extremely fine work, marked Shimazu with most certainty. Condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, or repairs. Some gold paint loss around edges but nothing that distracts.
