Antique Mid 18thC Meissen Porcelain Korean Lion Kakiemon Plate Porzellan Teller:
$1249.00

For sale is a mid 18th century Meissen dish dating to about 1745. It is hand painted with one of the nicest of the Kakiemon designs called the Korean Lion / Kylin Tiger pattern based on the Kakiemon designs from Japan. It includes what is called the lion, a crane, a may bug as well as Indian flowers and bugs along the rim. Nice cross hatch type rim decor called the Sulkowski Ozier design in relief often seen on these early versions. The plate is 1.5 inches tall and 10.125 inches in diameter so a nice size! It is marked underneath with the early Meissen blue crossed swords in under glaze blue as well as an impressed number 16. The plate is in amazing condition for the age with almost no wear which is stunning. Just some minor wear here and there that does not detract from the piece at all. No chips, repairs, etc. The Kakiemon colors of these early plates are amazing!
