Antique Mt Washington Webb Mop Satin Herringbone Enamel Victorian Pitcher Vase For Sale
Presented is a very lovely antique satin art glass mother-of-pearl enamelled art glass vase with herringbone pattern. This is a genuine vintage Victorian piece probably dating to the mid-to-late 1800's. The pitcher is a made up of a beautiful cased satin glass that actuallyshimmers when held to the light. The outside of the vase is a beautiful shade of light peach-pink with gold enamel decoration. The inside of the glass is entirely opaque white in coloring. The applied handle is frosted and semi-clear. This piece is entirely hand-blown and has a round polished pontil mark on the bottom. The pitcher displays beautifully, however there are two things to mention. The upper portion of the handle where the glass was attached looks like there are two internal lines that run across the glass. This looks to me like hot glass was applied to the glass and this was done in the making, although I can't really be sure. On each side of the lines there are some small flakes or chips that somehow seem to have broken free? Again, my guess is not a ding, but hot glass touching glass causing some minor defects. The other possible defect I see is that the second to lowest tendril on the glass may be missing? I am not 100% sure, but there is some slight roughness there. The rest of the vase seems to be in good condition. The pitcher measures about 9" tall. Please ask any further questions you might have. Lucky Buyer will pay shipping and handling. Good Luck!
