This is an antique Nantucket Basket with bark inserts. It is extremely rare, and a nicer example of one than is usually found. The woman who gave this to me also gave me the history she had on it, so I\'ll pass that along for what it is worth... Her mother collected Nantucket Baskets for about 70 years, and had a world-class collection. It stayed in a closet for most of its life. It is \"single-bark rim wrapped\" and dates all the way to the early 1900s. This one is considered a \"sewing basket.\" The height is approximately 4\" and the diameter inside is about 10\" with a total diameter of about 11\". The circumference is 35\". It really is a treasure.
