An Old Primitive EARLY Original Mary McAboy Native American Skookum Apple Head Wooden Block Composition Doll Wrapped in a Tight Woven Plaid Blanket with Hidden Tiny Baby (Papoose-Style) Tucked inside Blanket on back.She measures approx. 7.25 (H) x 4 in. (W) across broad shoulder area.She is in very good \'As Found\' condition with overall expected wear (her head is made of dried apple & painted? Or turned? black, that\'s all the string hair she has left, old nubby golden yellow plaid flannel blanket wrap & old black & green 3-leaf clover cotton dress, blue scarf neck area material--all fabrics are faded & in need of a mild cleaning/freshing up, some loose strings on clothing, worn & loss of fabric covering wood base bottom) due to age. The tiny baby is swaddled in black cloth and has a tiny shrunken apple head? or whittled wooden head? (Not sure) with lots of stringy~yarn black hair and only one tiny straight pin or nail eye. The baby is sewn/attached inside blanket.An Antique Estate Sale Fined!! Exact Age Unknown? C. 1914?/Early 20th C. A very early 1st Skookum Doll & possibly made by Mary McAboy?? (Google her) who was the original Artist Creator of Skookum Dolls. No Label or Provenance but this doll came from an estate that had a huge collection of Antique Ethnic Dolls from around the world!
