This rare pilgrimage medal shows Mary’s Holy House in Nazareth,being moved by Angels to Loreto, Italy; and the Sacred and Miraculous Crucifixby Sirolo, as revered in Numana, Italy. Both Pilgrimage sites near one anothertoday.

This medal is 1.25 inches long and weighs 12 grams of bronze.It is an originalmedal from my late mother’svast estate collection of Catholic Medals (Bertha; the founder of Church-Woman Antiques).

This medals dating can be confirmed on page 68 of the book AN INTRODUCTION TO RELIGIOUS MEDALS, by Bob Forrest, andpublished by NUMISMATICA INTERNATIONAL in 2004. According to this reference work, this medal dates from the 17th to 18th century (approximately).

In addition this book has chapters (outlined in thetable of contents), describing each of the categories of medals, their possibleplace of pilgrimage (acquisition), and origin of the mint where they were made.We recommend that anyone serious about collecting medals from this period,acquire a copy of this book.
