This is a well done original oil on canvas painting by Lawrence, Kansas artist Frank M. Benedict (1840-1930). He is listed in artists of Kansas by the university publication there.He is known to have spent his vacations in Colorado and to paint the scenes there. Signed in the lower right in red paint by him. I am estimating the age of the painting by the canvas and stretcher to be in the circa 1885 time period but cannot say for sure. I bought this from an estate sale where I got an indexcard that states \"View of Long\'s Peak and Estes from East Long\'s Peak Trail w/ Storm Mountain at right\". Old stretcher as the photos show. There are no repairs or holes in the canvas that I can see. But it looks like he started to paint a peak on the left side of the canvas but then painted clouds over that and then put the peaks elsewhere.

Canvas is 13 by 20 inches and outer dimensions of the frame are 18 by 25 inches.
