Old Chinese Cinnabar Lacquer Made Jewelry Box/Cosmetic Jar. This box/jar is a very fine example that is carved out of authentic cinnabar lacquer. The beautiful poeny flower patterns were just carved out out of the cinnabar lacquer. The body of the main box and the brim of the cover was also designed with poeny flowers. The inside surface and the bottom surface were covered with a layer of black lacquer. Such item was called carved lacquerware which is a traditional Chinese craft originated from Tang dynasty. In Yuan and Ming dynasty such craft was introduced into Beijing and developed into the summit. Later it becomes a famous craft in Beijing. The superb craftmanship shows the Chinese world well-known artistic skills to a high level. The condition is old but very good. It will be a nice collection for you.
