For sale is a cup and saucer made by one of the Paris makers around 1800. A fun set especially if you take it together with the matching other cup! This cup is superbly decorated with a hand painted scene of a bird swooping down to meet another bird in a nice landscape scene. Nice gilding to the top and gold trim all around with the same trim on the saucer rim. The center of the saucer has a landscape scene in it as well. The fun part is the title of the scene on the rim of the cup - infidellite - I guess things haven\'t changed much in 200 years :) The cup and saucer have sadly seen better days with the saucer having a hairline that was covered a bit at some point and the cup has had damage to the top part with a large chip reglued and some pieces missing with a long U shaped crack and a straight hairline. The set is unmarked which is common for Paris makers around that time. The cup is 2.375 inches tall and 2.375 inches in diameter. The saucer is 1.125 inches tall and 5.125 inches in diameter.
