Very unusualVictorian paste pots. Painted top of the lids are in excellent condition. The pot with the white porcelain trim with the fish market scene has a hairline crack on the trim.Underside of lidshave minor chips and some discoloration, but all lids fit correctly with the their bottom sections.Bottom sections havechips and discoloration.Four pots in total but not a set. Three are round and one is rectangular. Round lids are 4.25 inches in diameter. Rectangle is 5.25 inches by 3.25 inches. One has is signed Crosse and Blackwell

FelIx Edward Pratt (1813-94) pioneered the new printing technology of decorating lids of containers with sophisticated scenes usinga transfer technique. These pots (Prattware, Staffordshire Ware, etc. )were used for things such a shaving cream, cosmetics, potted shrimp, etc. The artist/engraver who decorated these pots is unknown, but they include a great deal of very fine detail which is not well caught in the photos above.
