This was purchased by a German/American family on a visit back to the homeland after the war in the mid-1960s. It is at least that old ~ although I suspect it\'s quite a bit older. The thick leather collar is folded in half and wired together at the lower part as seen in photos. I could have undone this but decided to leave it be for now. The collar shows authentic wear and was hand-crafted and stitched. Not a tourist object but a true piece of German/Austrian folk art ~ and so it\'s somewhat plain and primitive ~although that\'s also a great part of its rustic charm. The weathered brass buckle shows some decorative details. The clapper is also a nice length...hanging 3/4 of an inch outward from the bell.

Bell Measures4.5 x 4.5 x 3 Inches.
Approximate Lengthof Looped Collar is 15 Inches(So probably about 30\" total diameter).

Overall Excellent Antique Condition.
