Antique Print \"First In Peace\" George Washington Arrives In New York 1909:
$15.00

This is a 13\" x 20\" print from the Christian Herald published in February of 1909 with the headline, \"How New York Welcomed Our First President\". The original artwork was done in 1888 by Joseph Laing and his copyright is listed just above the headline.

The symbolism of America\'s earliest institutions, dress, customs, and Flags are prevalent throughout the etching. There is even a family of Native Americans witnessing his arrival by boat as they are gazing from their canoe along with dozens of others in their boats and on land. This print is mostly black and white with hints of color throughout.

The wooden frame looks to be about 60 to 70 years old and does have some minor chips in it. The print itself shows a little bit of ripple near the top but is in phenomenal condition given its age.
