Lets begin with the artist. Robert BruceHorsfall\'s wildlife paintings adorn museums around the world including Rutgers University Geological Museum, the American Museum of Natural History, the Peabody Museum of Natural History, and the United States National Museum. He was director of Arts for Nature Magazine, Nature Artist at the American Nature. This 1913 watercolor print was commissioned by the National Association of Audubon Societies.
The painting depicts a pair of herring gulls in the foreground of a rocky beach. In the background is an additional herring gull in flight over a choppy shoreline. This print is displayed in a equally beautiful turn of the century marble design on wood frame with black, gold, and ivory trim. The glass pane is of mouth blown glass and contains the expected flaws of the process. The backing is all wood with iron brad construction.
This remarkable piece is in excellent condition. It has the following flaws; very minimal loss of texture to the marble print. There is a hairline scratch to the inner gilded frame. Slight scratches to several areas of the black outer trim. The ivory colored matte has a slight discoloration in the upper right corner.StoresGoodtime Products Check out myother items!
