Made In Birmingham, EnglandThis is a vintage RABONE/CHESTERMAN Large Solid Brass Plumb Bob/Tank Measure 1P M10very nicely preserved showing its quality craftsmanship while presenting its custom manufacture with its flat surface on one side with millimeter/centimeter measurement increments.Resources suggest this to be a prime tool to make internal liquid tank measurements. Coming in its brass metal finish showing some of its original patina, this is an excellent find for the specialty tool collector. This older tool had a specific purpose and would not be found in the average tool box. While this plumb bob/tank measure is heavy and durable, it has the distinctive manufacturer’s identity: Rabone Chesterman Ltd., Made In England, 1P M10, stamped into the metal. One side is flat allowing the tool to be placed on a surface without fear of roll. It is also etched or stamped with a millimeter/centimeter scale up to 14-1/2 centimeters. Fitted with a loop to allow fastening to a chain/rope/cord, it would be ready for immediate use. While there is no realistic means to gauge its past use, its extremely fine polished condition suggest that it was limited and properly maintained.
