A beautiful hand painted Bayeux porcelain vase lamp base circa 1850. This was the base of an elaborate French ormolu oil lamp that was beyond repair and missing pieces. I was going to have it made back into a lamp...that was about 40 years ago. It is hand painted with a period portrait of a French or English metrosexual \"Dandy\", and a floral bouquet on other side. Their is wonderful gilt scroll work and the under glaze cobalt blue is similar to \"flow\" blue and bleeds into the white for a nice effect. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or repairs and the gilt is in great shape for age with minimal rubbing. It measures \" inches high. A wonderful collectible and display piece.
