Beautiful and so rare to find antique linsey woolsey wool and linen fabric in a fabulous Americana type red and cream stripe. For those of you familiar with this wonderful cloth, you will understand it\'s make up on sight. I\'ve seen many old woolens referred to as linsey woolsey, however some are simply early woven linen and wool. Linsey woolsey has a distinct look and feel. typically has a bit of coarseness with a linen warp and woolen weft. The wool was typically provided by a local sheep farmer and in early America, wool was rare. It has been woven for hundreds of years in many countries and Colonial America. It\'s difficult to put an exact date on this though I know it is at least 1900 or before and appears to have been a dismantled piece so is salvaged. Possibly even a Centennial piece based on the colors & design.I have provided many photos for you to view as all of these lengths will vary slightly with a few random small areas of wear as shown, though the majority is very very nice. If you look at the 5th photo, on the edges, it almost appears to have a bit of dye running into the cream but on closer inspection, I believe it\'s it\'s a variation in the dye color causing the color in a few areas to look a bit shadowed, if you will (please zoom in to photo 5 to magnify the areas that look a bit \"pinkish\"). I think tea dying this piece would give it a fabulous and even older more aged primitive appeal.This is an excellent piece for early period and primitive Americana projects. Holiday projects as well. Again, an outstanding rare find for any project.Measures aprox 24\" wide by 18 inches long ~ I am offering 3 pieces at the time of this listing, I can keep 2 uncut~ so for example a quantity of \"2\" would be 24\" wide by 36\" long.
