Antique RARE VTG 1920s Flapper Opera Coat Jacket Print SilkVelvet Feathers:
$4289.00

AUTHENTIC ICONIC 1920s Art Deco Flapper Coat- Formal Evening JacketMade of Printed Silk Velvet and REAL Marabou Feathers
I would like to start off this description by saying this is truly a museum quality garment. It is in stunning condition and is very wearable. With care, this garment can be worn and will last for another hundred of more years!
NO HOLES, TEARS, RIPS, OR VELVET FRAYING - NO DAMAGE ANYWHERE.
The photos do not show how truly amazing and vibrant the colors are. The \"white\" looking lines are actually done in metallic silver and are slightly raised off the fabric.
This garment is just so MAGNIFICENT AND EXOTIC in every way.I wish I knew more about the styling, fabric, and history of this textile, but I don\'t. From my research, it was most likely made in France. Although I have a few ideas of who the designer could have been, I am not going to speculate.
I will do my best to describe it. First off, the colors are lush and pop off the coat. It shines all over when the light hits it. The print (I think it is silk screened?) is soft to thetouch and the begins at the bottom of the velvet and rises all the way to the top).It\'s authentic Deco styling with a mixture or Orientalism and Egyptian revival. The primary colors are teal, blue, and gold within black silk velvet, with silvermetallic \"firework fountains\". The entire garment is covered with a silver metallicpaint that appears to create giant \"Firework fountains\" that repeatall over the printand is also dotted throughout with the same silver metallic. When I first saw it and touched the sleeves, I thought they were fur, but on closerinspection and research, I believe they are real Marabou feathers as was used infashion and millinery in the 19th and 20th century. The Marabou Stork fromAfrica(Leptoptilos crumeniferus) is a protected species and is on the threatened/endangeredlist of species and been under protection for many, many years. What we see today as maraboufeathers are actually Chicken or Turkey feathers. Most people have never seen a real marabou feather.
There is not a label inside that I could find. This is a one of a kind garment and reallyshould be in a museum or with a serious collector who will wear and care for it properly.
44\" long, 21\" long sleeves, 3\" wide feather trim all the way around and on the sleeves, 9\" sleeve widthWeighs about 3 pounds.
