The top ofthis little disc style pin cushion has a reverse painted glass pictureof Little Red Riding Hood.Thispiecewas actually handpainted onto the back of the beveled glass following a black line printtransfer that was applied first.

The back is asmooth piece of steel (attracts a magnet). Between is a velvet cushionfor the pins. Thecushion is original and intact and it\'s full of old steel pins. Itmeasures 1 7/8\" in diameter and isinexcellent condition with no chips or cracks in the glass.Somepin discs in this style are shown on p. 141 of NeryllaTaunton\'sbook AntiqueNeedleworkTools and on p. 139 of BridgetMcConnel\'s book The Story ofAntique Needlework Tools. A Red Riding Hood example is shown inthe bottom plate on p. 31 of SewPrecious, Children\'s Needlework Tools & Dolls\' Sewing Toolsby Diane Pelham Burn.
