Peter Stubs was an important Lancashire, England toolmaker who began manufacturing tools in the mid eighteenth century.
Some of his tools were imported to the USA in the 19th century.
As per the Guilford Courthouse National Military Park ~ National Park Service Museum Collections ~ he made Revolutionary War Amputation Saws with outside frames engraved with \"PS Stubs 17\".
It measures almost 16\" long Steel, Brass and wood - see pictures. A wonderful piece of History!
It is estate frshfrom a Newport RI Estate, and as found and we have not cleaned or polished it, with exception of the area where it is signed.
We did lightly clean the are so the signature could be read.
