Presented is a fabulously detailed, enameled bronze Russian icon made from the 1700s to the early 1800s. It is difficult to pinpoint the exact date. The icon is beautifully cast. The front scene shows Jesus walking on the water with a staff in his left hand and reaching out to an apostle with the left. The apostles surround the scene. Above the head of Jesus in the clouds is the head of God with hands outstretched as if to say, “Behold!”

The bronze of the icon is in excellent condition. There is wear to a high point on the front scene, but the rest of the design is in excellent condition. This piece is probably over 200 years old and possibly 300 years old.

The heavens are in light blue enamel. Some of the dark blue and light blue is missing around the figures. Regardless, the details of the bronze are fantastic.

RARE! Because it has more details than most in telling a story.

I found this 2\" x 2½\" icon in a Moscow cellar antique shop many years ago, and was told it was very precious.

This is an excellent item of old Russian Orthodox culture.
