I dug this black glass bottle in San Francisco\'s financial district. The financial district was built over Yerba Buena \"cove\" which was the harbor for the city \"Yerba Buena\" which then became San Francisco. Yerba Buena was full of docks and ships arriving for the Gold Rush. As there wasn\'t a lot of flat land in the city the cove was largely filled by 1854 with everything from boats, ships, trash and bottles. This bottle is from that period, likely a Britishalebottle. Very crude, lot\'s of whittling, 91/2\" tall with crude applied lip. The shape of the bottle neck is quite different and the lip closure is unusual with the applied second ring. That ring is likely for a wire bail attachment. Color is a dark olive green. Three piece mold.
