The stem has broken off this piece and has been glued back together, thus I would not advise this be used. The metal band on the stem has \"December 4th, 1889\" etched into it along with some other letters I cannot decipher. This piece has been used quite frequently in its day as evident by the patina. The case for this piece is worn, the lining is beginning to come off at the edges.
