Listing an antique Seth Thomas 8 day time and strike adamantine mantel clock. This model (CZAR) is stamped and dated on the bottom, c. 1902. A hard model to find this example is in near perfect condition. The vivid colored adamantine finish covers the entire clock. Finish is original has not been re-coated. Celluloid columns, column holders, feet and side lion heads are all in perfect refinished condition. 5 3/4 inch brass bezel with glass covers a signed Seth Thomas easy to read 4 1/2 inch dial. Fast/slow adjuster in working condition. Case measures leg to leg 18 inches wide by 7 1/2 inches deep and stands 12 inches tall. Case has original wood back cover with brass door for easy access to the movement.
Original Seth Thomas movement stamped 4 1/2 has been cleaned, oiled, and tested. Bushings were installed where needed and both mainsprings have been replaced with correct fitting new replacements. This movement strikes the hour on the hour and strikes a bell once on the half. Hour tone is deep and pleasant. C. 1902 was the first year this style movement was used in mantel clocks.
Truly a beautiful example of Seth Thomas quality. This clock is easy to wind, easy to set, and easy to clean with its smooth adamantine finish. Clock will set safely on an 8 1/2 inch deep shelf or mantel at least 19 inches wide.
