For sale is a pair of antique classic Sioux (Lakota)/ Arapaho beaded men\'s moccasins from circa the 1880\'s.
Uppers made of native tanned buffalo hide. Hide is mostly stiff, torn on several places, with several repairs.
Rawhide soles are stiff and slightly bulged. Uppers are connected to soles with sinew, but several repairs with
thread and even glue. Beadwork is sinew sewn. Striking classic Central Plains designs on white background in
bottle green, rose-white-heart, medium blue, some light green on tip of toe. The split tongues are relatively flexible,
but with repairs and loss of cones. Size of the moccasins is circa 10\" x 3.5\".
Condition is poor because of overall stiffness, tears, several repairs. Limited bead loss. Nonetheless in my opinion
still an attractive pair of classic Central Plains (Sioux/Lakota, Arapaho) men\'s moccasins from circa the 1880\'s
that still shows off great. Please take a good look at the pictures before you offer!
