Up for sale is an original cast iron Speaking Dog Bank. This was made by the Shepard Hardware Co. in Buffalo, New York. The bank is in it\'s original condition with no restoration. To operate the bank, depress the lever on the base near the dog, which causes the girl\'s right arm to move back, dropping the coin placed on the tray into the seat opening beside her. At the same time, the dog opens its mouth as if barking and wags its tail. Arm might need adjustment so that coin will drop directly into the bank, I will let the buyer take care of that. There is no cover on the bottom of the bank. (see pictures) There is obvious paint loss, but otherwise, a nice bank. Does have some paint droplets that I would assume came from splatter from maybe when a room was being painted where it was sitting? Stamped on bottom is Pat July 14 1885 and Oct 20 1985 (see picture). It is 7 1/2\" tall x 7\" wide. Weights 4.75 lbs. Please feel free to E-Mail with any questions you may have.
