Up for sale is this gorgeous, wonderful, large, heavy steampunk Ashcroft De Laval Steam Turbine Co. brass pressure gauge. The company was named after Gustav De Laval known as the Thomas Edison of Sweden. In 1890 he invented a new type of steam turbine that accelerated the steam to a high-speed before running against the turbine blades. The result was a turbine that was simpler and less expensive than previous versions. Incorporated in 1901 the De Laval Steam Turbine Co. went on to become a major world supplier of steam turbines as well as gears, centrifugal pumps, compressors and blowers. They outfitted hundreds of ships with turbines and gears during World War I and World War II. A beautiful, large, 10 inch gauge that displays well anywhere. It has a cast-iron base and can be mounted to the wall, it does have a chip in it as you can see in the photos. Otherwise, great vintage condition.
