Antique Damascus Steel Persian Middle Eastern Lance Spear Head Mughal Qajar
Description18th C. Damascus Steel Hand Forged Persian Middle Eastern Lance Spear Head Qajar
Up for sale is this early Indo-Persian hand forged iron lance or spear head.
The long, leaf shaped spear head measures approximately 19 7/8\" long, (including 2 1/2\" shank).
The heavy double beveled blade is 14 1/2\" long and is very sharp.
There is a grooved spear shaped center design with a raised median line.
This item is one of many that we acquired when we purchased a large estate. We have no information regarding age or origin.
Our research suggests, due to it\'s size and weight, that this is probably a lance or spear head created in the Middle East between the 16th and 18th Century.It has been brought to our attention by another member that this might actually be a 19th century Moro spear head from the Philippine Islands.
This piece is in very nice condition with great patina.
Finely honed, this lance head appears to be made of Damascus (watered) Steel and was definitely made by a skilled craftsman.
Heavy! The lance head weighs over 1 pound. Imagine the strength required to hunt or battle with this lance.
