Recently acquired is this antique sterling silver master butter knife in the rather fancy 19th century IVY pattern by Gorham. These old Gorham 19th century patterns are getting harder to locate. The blade is nicely engraved. It is marked on the back of the handle STERLING plus the Gorham (lion, anchor, G) mark plus PAT 68 date. The butter knife is 7 7/8” long, Condition is generally very good with a well defined pattern, just needing a good polishing. There are some overall light scratches from normal use, and the handle appears to slightly veer to one side (hardly worth noting).
