Fine Antique Sterling Silver Baby\'s Rattle c1929Stunning Crafted in the form of an Owl;Made by Crisford & Norris
This is a stunning Sterling Silver Baby\'s Rattle, which has been beautifully fashioned as an Owl. Of course, as you would expect with a piece of this exceptional quality, it is fully hallmarked confirming that it was made by the highly regarded firm of Silversmiths \'Crisford & Norris Ltd\' and that it was assayed in Birmingham in 1929(please seethe detailed close-up photographs provided, which form an integral part of theitem\'s description).
The Rattle is in great overall condition with the decoration on the owl remaining crisp and the owl having no dings or splits on it\'s body or head, but it has lost the bell that would have been attached to the Owl\'s head. The two bells work well and unusually have only minor dings as shown. The hallmark on the Silver collar above the handle remains crisp and clear, which is indicative of the Rattle\'s superbcondition.
The Rattle has a handle , which is made of a red material (may be Coral or faux Coral, I am no expert and don\'t know how to tell the difference) and where it isinsertedinto the Silver collar there is a small split in the Silver of approx\' 2.5mm (see last photograph), but the handle is not loose.
This fine antique Sterling Silver Baby\'s Rattle is approx\' 9.7cm long including the handle (or 5.2cm long without it) by approx\' 3.7cm wide from the outer edge of each bell (or approx\' 1.9cm wide measured just across the Owl\'s shoulders); it weighs 13.3 grams.
