This beautiful antique sterling silver dresser box or box for any purpose is made by Tiffany & Co,Marked on the bottom:Tiffany & Co 18310A makers 6467sterling silver 925-1000 MIt measures 6 1/8 inches long 2 inches tall and almost 4 inches wide, the lid has ornate floral, leaf and scroll work and the monogram E L which could be removed, hinges are in good working order and box closes VERY tightly. The inside of the box smells of cherry Tobacco to me. Not burned Tobacco but that very nice smell of cherry Tobacco. This box could be used for anything your imagination could dream up. It would be PERFECT for that gentleman proposing to his love and putting the ring inside it. Two beautiful gifts in one. Or perhaps used to give any special gift in, even if that gift is for you!Weighing this box would misrepresent the actual weight of the sterling because of the wood inside. I can tell you that is quite weighty and is of superb quality and craftsmanship, just what we expect of Tiffany & Co. I will leave the polishing to you if that\'s your desire. Right now it has a beautiful antique patina. M marked items from Tiffany hailed from 1907-1938, very collectible and rare. A beautiful present.
