A rare and large 4 5/8\" diameter stove tile in a deep blue green glaze showing a portrait of a woman with a flower in her hair in profile against a tiled background. A nearly identical woman\'s portrait is shown in the Encyclopedia of American Art Tile by Norman Karlson Vol 1 for Chelsea Keramic 1866-1891, image 005-005 and in an identical glaze to image 005-004. The condition is very good, having some roughness around the glazed perimeter and some flaking on the back edge. Unsigned.
