Description:

Offered for sale is an extremely hard to find porcelaneouspottery jug from the 19th century. It\'s hard to date this, but I would guess second quarter of the 19th century, possibly into the third. This was likely made by one of the potteries trying their hand at porcelain or at least a more sturdy pottery. The colors reflect a typical later palate and the glaze is more clear but notlike a 20th century piece would be. It\'s very interesting and I\'ve never seen another like it. Some of the painted highlights are under glaze and some are over glaze...mostly the greens and reds. Condition is perfect with no damage or repair, but there is some glaze wear in spots. There\'s a lot around the upper inner rim area, a buffed spot on the handle and a few rubs in the body near the handle and one on the spout...it looks like someone, at one time buffed a few areas to make it look older. Guaranteed as described, and to stave off the inevitable question....no there wasn\'t a mark on the underside that was removed. Measures 6\" to the rim, 8&3/8\" from spout to handle.
