Antique Victorian silver lidded vanity or dressing table jar hallmarked for London 1896.
The pot is in a tall cylindrical faceted shape with a pretty armorial style engraving to the sterling silver lid. It is very typical of the pots included in vanity sets often presented in a box or case, and would be an ideal replacement where such a set is incomplete.
This is, however, a lovely item in its own right, and being of relatively simple design would be a wonderful small jar in the kitchen as well as the bedroom and bathroom.
Maker\'s initials are, \"L & L\". Unfortunately I have not been able to identify who this is.
